Business Travelers hit by triple whammy of rising costs

The travel industry is by most accounts on a strong trajectory. Hotels in many cities are reporting record occupancy levels – and record room rates too. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts the airline industry worldwide to earn a tidy profit for $2.5 billion for 2007, the first time since 9/11/01. More travelers in airports means more customers for car rental firms , and other ground transportation businesses. Sadly, the good news for the travel industry is bad news for the consumer, as a trifecta of forces will leave business travelers footing a large part of the bill in the coming year.
